- planners; in Clayton, Mo. An early critic of decentralization
- who warned against the decay of America's inner cities,
- Bartholomew planned more than 500 communities. He worked for
- Presidents Hoover, Roosevelt and Eisenhower, and helped design
- the nation's first network of national highways.
